Dr. Irene Amos was born and raised in Blackhawk, MS. She is the 10th of 14 children born to Tanner and Clara Amos who are both deceased. Dr. Amos has a fraternal twin sister named Darlene who lives in Memphis, TN.
She has 17 years of experience as an English and reading teacher, assistant principal, and principal. Dr. Amos also coached track and cross country at Gulfport Central Middle School and Gulfport High School. For several years, she was a referee for basketball games. In March of 2016, Dr. Amos retired from the United States Army Reserve. She also loves to worship and praise God, and does it as much as possible as a member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Gulfport, MS. Finally, Dr. Amos loves to read, meditate, and exercise as much as possible.
